Project Renaissance: A Transformation for the Future
Project Renaissance, a major refurbishment project five years in the making, is set to transform Mount Elizabeth Hospital(Orchard) into a modern, integrated, multi-service hub, offering patients greater convenience, privacy, and seamless care. The project, which will be completed in 2025, brings the hospital another step closer to reaching its aspirations to "Care, for Good."
The progress is well underway, and exciting changes are happening all around! Here are some highlights of what's been achieved so far:
New Inpatient Beds: 109 new inpatient beds were operationalised in January 2025, following the Ministry of Health (MOH) Licensing Audit. These beds are in addition to those unveiled in the new Ward 5A, 5A (HDU), and the refreshed ICU 1. By January 2025, the hospital had 236 operational inpatient beds.
Renovation of Wards 4C, 5C, and 6: The final wards to be completed under Project Renaissance are Wards 4C, 5C, and 6. These renovations will add approximately 40 more inpatient beds and are scheduled for completion by June/July 2025.
New Nuclear Medicine Centre: The new Nuclear Medicine Centre, located a corridor away from the current centre on Level 1, is equipped with 1 SPECT-CT and 1 PET-CT scanner.
Radiology Zone 2: Part of the future integrated Radiology Complex, Radiology Zone 2 houses 2 new CT machines and the new ESWL, NICL, Mammography, Ultrasound, and X-ray units. This zone is adjacent to the Angiography Suite, launched in August 2024.
Relocation of IPS Centre: The IPS Centre has been relocated to Level 2 of the Medical Centre, opposite the UOB ATM machines, bringing services closer to doctors and patients.
LizWorld In-Room Infotainment System: Launched in Ward 5A in July 2024, the LizWorld in-room infotainment system will be progressively introduced to all new wards. The next evolution of the LizWorld Patient App, integrating more services, has been launched on March 2025.
New Public Toilets: New public toilets featuring modern designs and amenities were completed on Level 2 near the Main Lobby in December 2024.
New Kitchen: The hospital's new kitchen was handed over in December 2024, allowing for a phased transition back to onsite food preparation. Patient food preparation began in January 2025, followed by staff and doctor's food.
New Building Command Centre: The new Building Command Centre brings together Security, Facility Management, and Fire Command functions into one integrated space, located on Level 1.
Relocation of Departments: Departments such as Environmental Services & Biomedical Engineering have been relocated to Level 1 for better synergy.
Medical Centre Drop-Off Point: The new Medical Centre Drop-Off point, integrated with the sheltered linkway to Lucky Plaza, was unveiled on March 2025, bringing better conveniences to visitors and patients of Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
What to Expect from May 2025 Onwards
Completion of Wards 4C, 5C, and 6: The final inpatient wards will be completed, bringing the total number of beds to approximately 300.
